I’m here with Manager Luke Parsons as he discuses Saturdays game with me.
Hi Luke, hows the feeling from the camp after the away win at Renishaw Rangers?.
LUKE - “Hi There, The Camp were very happy with Saturdays victory away at Renishaw, A tough place to go against a good side. I thought we played the Very well and scored at crucial times, It's another one chalked off”
What preparations have been taken as you look ahead to another massive game against 3rd a placed Harworth?
LUKE - “When we Played Harworth at home for me it was our most complete performance of the season, We had a game plan that day and executed it superbly. Harworth are yet to lose at home in the league this season so we will need to be at our very best to take all 3 points.”
Had a tough run of fixtures how do you think this has effected the club?
LUKE - “It Certainly has been a tough run of fixtures, A Notts cup 3rd round game followed by 2nd 3rd and 4th all away from home you simply cant get any tougher then that. I think the lads have relished it and these are the games they want to play in”
I’ve seen you mention in previous interviews that the season is half way through and It’s advantage Newark Town. How confident are you that you and the lads can achieve step 6 football?
LUKE - “At the half way stage I did say its advantage Newark Town, I would much rather have points on the board then chasing the 3 points.
I fully believe if the lads stay focused and continue putting the hard work in then I have every belief we can achieve promotion this season.
Dinnington are a quality side who caused us problems just before Christmas and will be feeling confident themselves”
Previous encounter seen Newark brush aside Harworth 2-0 at home can you see this been any different away from the stomping ground?
LUKE - “I've said it a couple of times before when we played harworth at home it was our best result of the season, everyone stuck to there plan and played really well.
Away from home will always be difficult, teams always feel that little bit more confident when playing at home.
I'm expecting a tough game, Harworth will be going for the win as will we so it's set up to be a real cracker”
Newark have made some signings of late and have competition for places all over the pitch you must have a real head ache going into this game?
LUKE - “Me and Tony will certainly have headaches as we do most weeks. Jonny Wiles made his debut last week and looks a real find, Joe Braithwaite has made a massive difference to us at the back. We have Craig Bridge coming back to full fitness and will hopefully make the Harworth game, Danny Boulton took a knock at the weekend on his shoulder and is 50/50”
Finally We seen Newark Town receive a Home draw vs Kimberley Miners Welfare in the Notts senior cup, what’s your thoughts on this?
LUKE - “Any draw at home you have to be happy with, Its going to be tough as they are a league higher but these are the games we relish to most. We certainly will be the underdogs but we will go into the game full of confidence of causing an upset.”
Thank you for your time Luke and we wish you all the best for Saturdays game.
