The Collingham Curse

Due to a busy we weekend I managed to get our home fixture against Collingham transferred over to their floodlit ground on a cold Friday night. Big thanks to Collingham for being great hosts.
The game was reffed by a charming 73 year old. I didn’t think he would be able to keep up with things but he did a really good job. We are supposed to pay the ref’s £25.00 a game but he pleaded with me to only pay him a tenner as he simply does this for the love of the game. I was both humbled and impressed by this man.
We had a 2 minute silence for Remembrance Day before the kick-off.
We had a very short 20 minute warm up and brief team talk. We were without the Sumal boys and I decided to put Ben H, Adam and Theo on the bench, simply for not being able to make the last match (nothing to do with any previous performances).
We started the game very lively and went 1-0 up before 10 minutes through Will. Collingham equalised pretty much straight away and then went 2-1 up shortly afterwards. Our game started to fall apart and everything that we should have done wasn’t executed at all. I became frustrated with myself as I felt my ‘dictatorship’ approach to coaching crept back and too many orders were barked from the sidelines and negative comments made 
We did pull a good goal back through Will again but through it away pretty much straight afterwards and we came in at half time 3-2 down.
I brought on all three subs to try and revive a bit of spirit back into the team.
Will scored within the first minute of the second half and I thought we were back on track again.....unfortunately we simply couldn’t find our rhythm today. Passes were sloppy, tracking back was half hearted, marking wasn’t tight enough and positions weren’t held throughout the pitch.
We conceded two more weak goals. We reached the dreaded 3-5 score line, which has been the shared end result for our last three fixtures against Collingham. Unfortunately although it was our turn for the victory score line, fate played a cruel twist and gave it to Collingham
I take that back, fate has nothing to do with it. We all played our part in the defeat, me included. One more for the lessons learnt box.

Sadly I think that means we lose out on the mid season promotion
