2. About the Football Club

Introducing Newark Town Football Club

Newark Town Football Club is the oldest and the largest football club in Newark. Founded in 1868, the club has gone from strength to strength and in recent years has secured a reputable and all-inclusive grassroots community club position.

To further enhance this enviable position, the club holds the prestigious 3-star highest accreditation (formerly the FA Community Charter Standard Scheme) by England Football for demonstrating safe, respectful and inclusive player pathways. To that end, we consider ourselves the go-to football club in the local area for youngsters and adults alike.

The club is immensely proud of the football community it continues to grow. We boast more than 600 local players making up 33 teams throughout the club. Our Youth Section of mixed and girls’ teams, our Division One Ladies Team, Ladies Development Team, our Men’s Sunday Side and Sunday Reserves Team and the highest-ranking Newark based Step 5 Men’s First Team complimented in 2025 with two new team; the Reserves and the Under 23s, demonstrating a strong and robust player pathway. With a growing Men’s Walking Football group and the re-introduction of a PAN Disability team in 2026/2027, our objective is for everybody who loves football, to enjoy football whatever their capabilities.

As well as football, we appreciate the positive impact of local support, and we are extremely grateful to every business, organisation, and retailer who we are connected to and partner with.

As the club grows and thrives in Newark, we continue the successful function as an asset of community benefit with our club cascading into the local community on many levels.

Our Youth Section (ages 4 to 18 years) play their matches on a weekend at Devon Park with our Men’s Sunday Side, Sunday Reserves Team and Ladies Development Team also playing there on a Sunday. Our Men’s and Ladies First Teams play their matches on a Saturday afternoon and a Sunday afternoon respectively and all our players, both Youth and Senior, train every weeknight at the YMCA Activity Village.

We are Newark through and through, we have home-grown footballers who have, and are on, the pathway from childhood to adulthood players. Our army of resolute volunteers are Newark people working hard for the Newark community.
